| Feeding the dam? So I think Chloe is for sure pregnant. She is starting her 5th week since the matings. Her belly is slightly more protruded and kind of hard. At this point I think I should start feeding her a little differently? I have heard of giving puppy food for energy (after the pups are born) - but should I start that now? Also anything else to give her more nutrients? Thank you! |

| You can start her on puppy food now. Also white meat chicken, brown rice in between. That's what I do. Continue her on puppy food as she nurses. I'm sure there will be many other suggestions for you too. But thats just a little of what i do for my girls. I also give them scrambled eggs for breakfast. |

| Paddy is pregnant, and at our 25 day exam, our Vet told us to switch her to puppy food that day through the birth and after while she is nursing. He said she needs the extra fat to grow her puppies. He also has her taking a calcium supplement (which she loves! I wonder what is in those things?? ) Do you plan to take Chloe in for an ultrasound? It was an awesome experience for a first time "grandma", seeing their little hearts & umbilical cords.

Will go get puppy food and calcium supplements! Yes - planning for an ultra sound around 40 - 45 day! Yes - I am so excited but also worried as she is a little princess who doesn't like pain. |

| I feed my dams puppy food, cottage cheese and canned puppy food. I start this about three weeks before they are due and continue till the pups are weaned. Then I feed this to the pups for several weeks also. |

| My moms are on puppy food always from the time they go into heat but often they stay on it between heat cycles if I plan to breed them next heat cycle..I feed cottage cheese, yogurt, boiled chicken, added crushed oyster shell..basically, I vary the diet to keep my mom eating well.. I do not give milk to them but some do give goat's milk. I keep goat's milk Esbilac on hand..freeze the liquid in ice trays, after it is frozen dump it into a plastic bag and take out a cube and give it if I think she/they are not eating what I consider a good diet. |
