| Perfect example of the breed I was just curious what you breeders consider a perfect example of the breed? My first dog Chachi is not a good example of the breed. He has a cotton coat, hes over the standard in weight , and he has severe allergies to where he takes all kinds of medicines. My second yorkie seems to be a better example she has a silky coat, shes within the standard on weight, she has a straight backline. Also are allegies genetic? My breeder prided herself on her dogs but Chachi has such exteme allergies he will probably be on medications the rest of his life.

| I just had a question on chachis allergies. Peawee had to be rushed to the vet the other day. It was due to allergies and his eyes swelled up and he broke out all over and he was given a steroid shot. The vet said that she would never give him a shot again because its to hard on him and he would have to start taking meds. Did Chachi have breakout like this and what kind of med. is he on? Is it a daily pill? Any info you could give would be helpful. Thanks

| allergies If I had a Yorkie with this type of allergy I would go to a vet who specialized in allergies and change the diet. I had a grooming client who kept hers on shark fin and it cured her..she was taking cortizone by mouth and was so heavy..bloated etc. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Chachi ...Sorry to go Off Topic but....I have a friend who's little yorkie has severe allergies too and they tried a ton of different meds - She's now 6 years old - do you want to talk to her to see what worked and what didn't ? She may be able to give you some help with this - Bless Chachi little heart - being itchy is an awful feeling...

| Thanks. I feel like at my wits end also. We found out that it is in his shampoos and household cleaners, perfumes etc. Its really hard knowing which things to use anymore because of his allergies. He has to go back in to do more testing but he was so miserable when I took him in last they didn't want to bother him.

| Hi, I'm Villette's friend. I have the six year old yorkie, Gracie. She was on the steroid shots and the Prednisone pills and other types of steroid meds for years. These only help for a short time. After a while, they started causing bad side effects. The worse one was her losing control of her bladder. So, our regular vet sent us to an allergy specialist in Houston. Gracie is off the steroids, her skin looks really good, and all she gets is an allergy shot once a week. It takes about four months of shots before you start seeing the results but can take as long as a year. I am so glad we went to the specialist. And Gracie is not itchy anymore. I highly recommend an allergy specialist. If anyone has any further questions, please feel free to ask me, as I wish I had someone to ask when we were going through all this. I will be glad to answer any questions I can. Jamie
