| is my dog in early stages of labor? my yorkie has been restless most of the day and chewing on everything she can get ahold of. she wants to be near me and stares at me. she has went behind the couch and when the other dogs fallowed her she wanted to fight with them. there is no signs of milk yet though. what do you think? |

| The first thing the breeders that frequent the forum will want to know is how many days is she. The second thing will probably be whether you've been monitoring her temp and if so, has it dropped yet. Has she stopped eating yet? Hopefully some of the breeders will see your post if they are still awake.

| Good questions...........Is this her first litter? Have you made a spot for her and got her use to that spot so she will know where to lay to have her babies. The other pets might be making her nerves and she might not know where to go. |

| If she is close to her due date it could be she is in the early stages. My females usually get the runs and spit up a bit a few hours (or right before) they are about to give birth. I just had two litters ... one this past Friday and one Monday night.... My Wilma (this was her first litter) only had a little runny stool and gave birth fairly easily. My Lucy (this was her 5th litter) had the runs for about 4 hours (real fun!!)... then spit up about an hour before she gave birth... she had a harder time... the puppies were bigger... two.. a male and a female... both 5.8 ounces each (they are the largest puppies my girls have had).... They usually weigh in the 3 to 4 ounce range. Keep an eye on her.... and good luck!!!

They'll follow you around everywhere and may start digging...or "nesting". Some will throw up or have loose stools. Some will try to find a place to hide but you need an area just for her. An x-pen would be wonderful that way, she can't hide and start having pups without you knowing about it.

| I have found everything different, Lilli showed me only one sign and that she did not eat anything that day and stayed in her crate which was right next to the couch and me and she jumped up on me and started pushing hard and after that is was fast but I know every female is different write down everything that she is doing so you will know next time. Hope this helps Kristi |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Gracie's water broke while she was following me around the house. I thought she had piddled in the house...till I saw fluid coming from her vagina. We went to the birthing room and stayed there for pretty much the rest of the afternoon.
