What are the measurements that are desired? I know sometimes a yorkie is considered too long or too tall. What back length and height is preferred? Are there any other measurements to consider other than those two?

I'm not an expert by no means, but I have heard and read that it's a rough rule that the back lenght should be about the height at the shoulders, that would make a nice yorkie package!...

Yes, in what I have read is that it should be a perfect square. From the bottom of neck to start of tail should equal the height from floor to shoulders. Actually inches, I have never seen in any of the books I have read.

I have been wondering how long the legs should be. I have seen some with really short little legs and some that have legs that don't seem to be too long, yet, are longer.

9 inches tall by 9 inches long. A square body.

I have looked everywhere and read a lot, never actually found a site that stated AKC height, but if I were to guess, I would agree with Kim! somewhere around 9 inches (give or take a little!!)
