| C section or Natural Birth ? Just wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages for both? My vet actually recommended me to let KiKi do a C-section because of her size and also he said will reduce alot of pain and also let the puppies have a higher chance of survival...but then the owner of the studd told me no matter what, do not get C section unless it's emergency...so Im confused... |

| Did the vet do an xray?? Is he saying there is a risk because your female is small?? Is the stud smaller than the female?? Is your female able to deliver natural. Is her pelvic area large enough for puppies to pass? These are questions you have to know the answers for. Unfortunately we can not help you here with which one to pick. My Bell didn't have a C section, she had no problems delivering. But I had the telephone number of the emergency vet just in case. You can ask your vet if it is at all possible to let her try natural and you could call him if there is a problem?? Good luck, let us know what you decide.

| well.. Well the Studd is almost half the size of my female and the vet DID say that she's able to deliver naturally ...it's just that he thinks it will be alot easier for me and my baby ( Less pain for KiKi) if we let her do it with C section. So I was just wondering is is better to do it naturally or by C section? like are there any reason mainly why people do it naturally instead? |

Do you know what to look for in an emergency? I hope you have a good mentor and have delivered puppies before. Most of the times it happens at night, so make sure you have an emergency vet or office you can go to and have money saved up, the whole ordeal will cost minimum $600. There are even some unethical vets who recommend c-sections because of the money. So this is why I recommened to get multiple opinions reguarding her size and shape. good luck! | I went to at least 4 vets ( 3 in Texas and one in New Jersey) and so far this is the only vet that I really trust because the doctor really loves his job and loves the animal not just for the money...there is another vet here that does everything strictly ..and they are very cold and one time my friend's yorkie was hit by a car and they would not treat the puppy unless she pays up front ... So anyway, my vet, He told me he will only charge me $285 for the C section, even if it's in the middle of the night or not...I have at least 3 or 4 thousand saved up for KiKi ..incase of anything.. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | If she has a sturdy frame and you get an exam done and they determine that she can pass the pups, I'd let her. I wouldn't put a bitch through a c-section. It takes much longer for them to heal and recover and then if they breed again, chances are, you'll have to have another c-section. What fun is that? It just seems too painful for me. Please be careful on vets like this. Unless it is an emergency, you risk your female. How many yorkies have died on the operating table from spay and neuters? I'd seriously reconsider this AND get a new vet. Seems that this vet only wants the money and not what is in the best interest of the dog. But of course, you're going to do what you want to do anyway, but I wouldn't do it. JMO Best of luck to you and your dog.

| I have had to schedule c-sections because the xray showed some larger puppies. I have also had emergency c-sections. In both instances it was real work getting the moms to recognize the puppies as her babies. She went to sleep with a full tummy and when she woke up her tummy is gone, she has an incision down the middle that hurts and she has these wierd little things pulling on her sore belly and digging right into the incision. I would not have a c-section done just because some vet says it makes the mother have less pain. These babies don't stand up on the delivery table and do one of the scenes right out of the movies. They move thru the process of whelping with relative ease.. |
