| getting the skunky pheromone smell off of a male after breeding? Hi, I have two girls and one of my (super awesome) breeder's stud dogs lives with me. He just got back from spending a week and a half at her place for his FIRST breeding and even after a bath, he still STINKS! She warned me about this and said that it is pheromones and that he should stop smelling in two or three weeks. Do any seasoned breeders out there have any tips on how to make my little horny dude less stinky? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've never heard of this before, I wonder if this is very common? There are neutralizing shampoos that you can use for different things including skunk, I've seen them sold at Petsmart.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | yes, I know the smell you are talking about, my mentor had a stud that smell funky after breedings, she bathed him with a shampoo that removed odors and used a weak, solution of water and white distilled vinegar. I do use the rinse with my girls after they are done with their seasons. you might want to try it, I put about 5 drops of white vinegar in a gallon of water and use it as my last rinse. |

| I know exactly what u r talking about. I actually have 3 studs. 2 have the smell & the other has a light odour. I probably wld not notice it on him but because of my other 2. I use a product from the Melaleuca company, their dog shampoo is fantastic & they also have a product called Solumel. I think I would have a breakdown if they were to run out. It has a lot of tea tree oil in it. The solumel I use on my hardwood floors when the dogs mark. I get that "skunky" odour in their urine, especially when they mark. The oil in the solumel does not dry out the floors. Hope the info helps. |

| Ditto, i never heard of it or experienced it before and i hope i never will I would try white vinegar diluted in a rinse. vinegar neutralizes most odors. Good luck. XOXO

| I'm sorry. No advice from me but I did want to thank you for giving me yet another reason why I'm not cut out to be a breeder. That just sounds gross!
