| Microchipping Litters? Do any breeders here microchip their litters before being placed? If so what is your reason in doing so and do you put your info or the owners to be info? Do you feel this is your decision or the new owners to microchip? Do you think the new owners would be upset that microchipping would be done to a pup they have purchased and breeder microchipped with their info? IMO I feel it should be a breeders decision in doing so and putting their info. I think it would insure the breeder that if said puppy would be placed in a shelter or gets lost they could be contacted. I see no problem if pup were to get lost and found breeder being able to contact buyer. Looking for opinions...thanks |

| I had my liter microchipped. I want to do all I can to assure the safety of my pups. What I mean is that if the pup was to get loose, hopefully someone would be honest enough to take them into be checked for the chip and their owners could be notified. I feel that it is my decision to micro chip as the breeder and before my pups are sold the potential buyer knows that they wil be microchipped therefore if they don't want one microchipped then they don't have to buy mine. Just makes me feel a lil more at ease when they leave me. |

| chips My last few litters I have had them chipped with the info of the new owner. There is no down side to chipping, so why would any new owner be upset? The new owner can contact the company and have the info transferred into their name and the breeder is not invloved. Best wishes |

| A few years back I bought a Scottie from a top knotch breeder and they microchip all their puppies. It was my first experience and now all my dogs are microchipped. |

| In Canada , all dogs have to be identified before leaving the breeder's homes . |

| Microchipping is a great idea, however, I think the new owner's info need to be registered. Just my thought's.

| you can chip them and then the new owner's can register their information at the time the chip is registered in the data base. it's a two step process. i have my adults chipped, but i personally dont chip the pups before leaving. i do give the information to the new owners to have it done if they choose. |

| I just got a 1yr old from Sylvan, and she had the vet use my info so I wouldn't have to make the change. I thought it was a thoughtful thing to do....
