| I just bought a 9 wk old male. Can I put a 9 wk old female with him? Can I put the two together now, and decide to breed them much later or is this asking for a problem? I may not even decide to breed them at all. I really want a female as well as a male and so hes got a lil friend. Also they will be from different breeders. |

| First off welcome to YT. It's a great place to meet friends and to learn and share. Nine weeks old was way too young for a breeder to sell you that pup. Ideally 12 weeks or older. Secondly, it's fine to put a female and male puppy together, but then you have to do the responsible thing and have them spay and neutered just around six months of age. IF you aren't going to do this then you have to be responsible enough to ensure that your male does not impregnante your female which is almost impossible to prevent. There is more to breeding the just putting two dogs together. There are too many unwanted puppies as it is and so many end up in rescue, rehomed over and over or worse. IF you are truly serious about breeding, you should seek out a mentor, one who is reputable and knowledgeable. Again, there is so much more to breeding then just throwing a male and female together. | Here's a good example of what I was talking about. Please look at this ad and read what the seller is saying. Too many pups that end up suffering due to people just wanting to breed to breed. | It would be good to put them together early. I got my female when she was 13 weeks old and 6 weeks later got my 12 week old male. Tessie was a little jealous at first but they adjusted to each other. I was not interested in breeding because I didn't know what to do and I would want to keep the puppies. I did the smart thing and had them spayed/neutered at the same time. I am sure they are much happier. All of my pets are spayed/neutered when they are old enough.

| You can have them living in the same home together, but may I suggest you get them spayed and neutered when they get a bit older.....

| Your pup should have stayed with its mom untill 12 weeks old. I would concentrate on keeping your pup healthy and happy and leave the breeding to professionals

| Housebreaking will be very difficult with two. May I suggest getting the second one at about a year later.
