I need a breeders opinion *Please Help* I have a tiny proven stud that all of a sudden only ties for about 1-2 minutes. He is just over 2 years old and has been tested for disease. I'm not sure what's going on. He will tie for a good 30 minutes with 1 female but a week later he will tie 3 or 4 times(in a matter of 5 minutes) for only one minute each time. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I know he's ejaculating in her but why is the tie so short? Last edited by Tiny_yorkies; 02-13-2011 at 05:11 PM.

The last time he bred was a week ago with a friend of mines female. Now that my female is in season he hasn't tied for more than a minute at a time. I'm dumbfounded about this, new to me.

But is it the same girl? I know usually if he's breeding too much that can happen, you shouldnt let them breed for more than 3-4 days, once a day each, thats all they need!

You know what, I think I was reading this all wrong, LOL... the tie has to do with both male & female... the one who lets go of the tie is not the male but her, shes the one holding on, when she relaxes she lets go... so if its only last a short time then thats good, whatever your doing to her to keep her calm is working... so if thats what you are talking about then its not that bad... usually the 1st or 2nd time will be longer. Hope this helps a little more.

The male is the one who holds the tie. He knots up and throbs for a bit then the swelling subsides and then they part. My vet said there's nothing medically wrong with him. He said to continue with the normal routine(everyother day) with my female, he also said that if a previous female pulled to hard(trying to get away) that he could be sore. Thank you for your help!
