| All that hair!!! How do you keep your females hair cut? When she is expecting, do you prefer to keep it short for the ease and cleanliness or do you prefer to keep it long so that she has the "look" that many puppy buyers are looking for?

| I usually give mine a nice trim with a belly shave . I also do a belly shave and keep the very long hair divided as "mini " pony tails, but i preffer a cut like a puppy cut. Females when they whelp and nurse, they loose some hair anyways , the belly hair falls off , and the body hair may thin out ... so mother nature takes care of nipples being free for the puppies to find anyways. XOXO

| I like to keep the coat fairly short, not more than a couple of inches all over. If the coat is to long the puppies can get tangled up in the mommas coat. I do not shave the bellies with a shaver. I use a small pair of scissors and careful trim the belly hair as close as I can. I just feel that the moms and pups would not like that 'prickly' feeling when the closely shaved hair grows out.

| Well I love the look of a long coat so I don't cut any of my girls short. I will shave their belly and then wrap the rest of the hair so that puppies won't get tangled in it and it doesn't get too damaged.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I have all my girls in a puppy cut. Sometimes I will leave the face and topknot long..just depends. I am scared of them getting tangled in the hair. I have heard of some moms carring them off and dropping them in tangled hair. Mom's get so messy and stinky after whelping the short hair works for us better. With shorter hair I can see better whats going on during whelping. Also when the pups start getting older they seem to play with mom's hair and it gets really matted if you don't stay on top of it. I shave the belly about 2 weeks before. If I do it then I don't have any problem with sticky hairs for the pups.
