| How do I know if my yorkie is pregnant I was advised to post my question here. Everyone has been so great. I have never had a pregnant dog before so I don't know that signs. Can anybody help me. She just turned a year old and I didn't think my 6 month old male could get her pregnant but her nipples are no longer flat! Her behavior has changed, her vagina(?) has gone down but is still large. Do I need to worry? Help! |

| No there is nothing to worry about. If she is she is. It took my male till he was 10 1/2 months. I know my male was 7 months and he locked with both my Dams. (This was an accident.) None of them got pregnant. Count the days since they mated. She should show between 5 1/2 - 7 weeks. If that's the case she should be checked by your Vet. Also a high protein & calcium diet is recommended (Puppy Food) as soon as you think she is pregnant.

| My Lily Belle just had 3 pups. They are 8 days old. Tomorrow I'll post an update with pics. If your Dam is pregnant, I advise you to do alot of reading. Check out the threads under Breeders. There is alot of excellent information there. Also prepare for a C Section and the cost. Unfortunately Lilly had one last week. I almost lost her 3 pups and her. So do prepare yourself, I promise you it will help . Good Luck

| Zoey I think I am in the same boat. My female Zoey will be 1 yr next month she is about 5 lbs, and my male Todo is almost 2 yrs and about 8 lbs. Zoey went into her first heat and at first he wanted nothing to do with her, but around Christmas he would not leave her alone but she did not want him at all, plus we were waiting until her 2nd heat to breed them so we kept them apart and he was driving her nuts! I don't know if he got her while we were sleeping, or on News Year's eve because the kids left the bedroom door open and he got out. She went out of heat like a week later. Then he wanted nothing to do with her and she was trying to hump him and still is, her nipples are still swollen, and her vulva went down some since her heat but still swollen she does sleep more, but still very playful, and has not been sick at all. Now I know if he did get her she would only be about 2 or 3 weeks at the most, would her nipples have stayed swollen after heat if she is? Her tummy to me feels normal but with the swollen nipples, and vulva it makes me wonder if she might be pregnant? |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Looks like you ladies (ojanpera & Nikki) may need to get prepared for a litter of pups. Some of the signs are there but it can be unconfirmed for up to 5-7 weeks along. Unless you take them in for an xray. Usually done around 6-7 weeks along to be sure how many pups she will be having. Which I think for you first timers may be a really good idea. But than doesn't leave you much time to prepare. It only take 9 weeks for pups to be born. When was the tie ? Any weight gain? Any sign of a milk line? (bumpy area that start on either side, starting at the vulva and running up along the nippy's) If you think that you girls are pregnant start reading up on care of the dam, whelping and care of the pups afterwards. Be sure to make time for thier first visit for dew claws and tails to be docked. Oh and put back some money for emergency c-cecton. Keep us updated on their progress and get ready ! Ask questions and lots of them. If possible find a mentor (a breeder in your area to help) and who you can go to for a better idea of what to expect. You always hope for the best but need to be prepares for the worse. You never know when a pup or even your girls need more that you can offer them during a difficult whelp. Have your vet and emergency vets # on hand. The link below is a great informational site and has been a go to source for many people here on YT. Canine Reproduction Video and Book on Breeding and Whelping dogs by Debbie Jensen for dog breeders and Whelping Supplies needed to deliver puppies.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Once a female has had her first heat cycle...her nipples will no longer be flat against her chest/tummy. Their vulvas do not immediately shrink in swelling either. At four weeks a vet can palpate or do an ultrasound to confirm a pregnancy but by that time...her teats will have swelling beneath them too.

| Yeah teats have like a bump under them, idk if I just think she looks bigger or if she is lol if you know what I mean. To me her tummy looks a little bigger but it might be because I have it stuck in my head she is pregnant so she just looks bigger. We had planned to take her to the vet within the next few weeks just to confirm, plus with her being only like 5 lbs I was concerned if she would be okay. She is so much smaller than my male. I was told he is bigger than most Yorkie's he weights like 9 lbs. So if she is she should have them around feb. 24th or maybe a week later depending when he or if he got her. Which if she is that's kind of funny bc she will be 1 yr that same week. |

| With that much difference in size I would be at the vets as soon as possible asking. I am not a breeder but just from reading they usually breed smaller males to the larger females.
