| I put the mother in with mine once in the morning once in the afternoon and then she is with them all night. When she is not in there I leave a bowl of baby rice cereal mixed with goats milk (Canned not fresh )and water and add some Pedigree lamb and rice puppy food. |

| My moms stay with their puppies until they leave for their new homes. I allow her to self-wean them. At 4 weeks I put ground up puppy food in for the puppies and it stays there 24/7 so they can eat whenever they want. Mom also has her food available 24/7 and the puppies will nibble on that too. I gradually grind the food up less and less through the weeks until they are on full size kibble.

| At 4 weeks of age, I usually only begin to introduce them to a gruel, twice a day. Usually when mom is out excising and increase the feedings as mother's milk changes consistency and begins to diminish. I don't begin to add kibbles until I feel those lil milk teeth coming in. My mother's call the shots on the weaning process, but usually by 10 weeks of age she's not sleeping with them anymore....but, is with them most of the day and stays with them until they go to their forever homes between 12 and 16 weeks.

| Mary, I've always wondered why some breeders separate the puppies from their mom by 6 weeks or so. I've always left it up to the moms too. For me the whole reason to keep the puppies to 12 weeks or older is to socialize them with their mom. Do you think keeping them together changes their personality in the show ring?
