Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Buyer/Seller long term relationships Okay I have been thinking on these questions for awhile and would like to have a serious discussion on these questions. If any one feels uncomfortable on answering on a forum, please feel free to email me at dee@houseofwags. Does your contract require a buyer of your puppies to have you approve any subsequent puppies bought for future breedings? Mine doesn't. If a puppy is sold as a show potential, and the new owner doesn't show it, should they not be allowed to use it for breeding? How would you enforce it? If your pedigrees have champions, and one of your sold puppies grows up and has an oops breeding--say Maltese and Yorkie, should you as the first breeder or sire's breeder for example, tell the buyer not to mention your championships in the selling of the oops puppies who will not be registered? Where do you go with something like this situation?? Do you advertise for your unborn litters (like on puppyfind) before your litters are whelped?? Do you refer to other breeders when you don't have available puppies? Or do you just say sorry and let them figure out their own way. I have been referring new buyers, unscreened, to others and to the forums for them to continue their search for puppies, if they don't want to wait for another litter. |

Nope, My show contracts stipulate the dog/bitch must be showed through Championship. It states the that the dog can not be used for breeding until is Championed. How do I inforce it. I don't place a dog for show unless I know and trust the person. And, I've only placed 1 show potential and it is being shown by me. My contract states if there is a breeding with an unapproved bitch/stud I will confiscate the dog/bitch and the litter. My dogs/bitches placed in a show home must only be bred to an AKC approved mate. Never, I have a waiting list. My pups have homes prior to a breeding taking place. Do you refer to other breeders when you don't have available puppies? Or do you just say sorry and let them figure out their own way. Never, I have a waiting list. My contract was written with the help of a laywer, so if there is an infraction on it, it will hold up in a court of law.

| My dogs are not at public stud so I haven't had to deal with at least some of this. If I allow a very trusted friend to use one of my dogs, the understanding is that anything show worthy will be kept by them or offered to me. Anything they are not going to show and finish is a spayed/neutered pet. I do not sell intact dogs as a rule. If I trust someone enough to let them have a show potential, I require that the dog is finished prior to breeding. If there was an oops breeding I would be very upset but the puppies would be given away to good homes with no mention of my lines. I am on one referral site and do have a website. I have usually one litter or less per year so rarely have puppies. I do refer to people that I know well that I am sure are reputable, have good health guarantees and stand behind their dogs. I do talk to the potential buyer and pre screen before passing them along as I know if they are not suitable buyers, I don't want to waste my friends time.
