Day 54 and no other signs that whelping is near. This is the first time I was able to take her temp. Does that seem normal?

Usually their normal temp is between 101 - 102? I'm pretty sure.

I'm sure an experienced person will be able to tell you.

That temperature is a little low but it could be caused by low blood sugar. Often the temperature will go up and down a lot the week before delivery. Enough to drive you nuts. I have got to where I don't take the temperature that much since I am with them all the time. Usually starting around day 60 I will take it twice a day. I have had several deliver when their temperature was 100 degrees.

I will check her temperature again tonight and see where we stand but give her a bit of nutrical in the meantime. Thanks for the information.

If she is just on day 54, I'd be relieved that there are no signs of whelping. It's still pretty early for the pups to be born. You've likely got a good week before they arrive.
