My female yorkie is heat and has been for about 10 days, we have put her with the male at his house but how long will it take for them to get used to each other to mate? sorry I'm new to this. Thanks for your help and tips

Hopefully the owner of the stud is an experienced breeder and will be there at all times to help with the breeding hands on. Dogs really don't care to "get to know each other" prior to breeding. So to answer the original question, it should take no time at all. Just make sure that the stud owner is there in the same room, preferrably holding them as the tie, not only to protect your dog, but to protect the stud as well.
