| is she pregnant? my little girl on her 3rd heat got tie with my 9 month old boy, i did keep them apart and thought her heat was over so i let them together they mated on the 1st august, i seperated them again for 5 days and again on the 6th aug they tie, i am worried cause there a long gap and babies maybe under developed, or if is sperm was good enough not to have babies with defects. She would be now 45 days from first day but has put no weight on. She did have sickness on day 23,25. and her temprament has change. I have listened with stethoscope and can hear faint heartbeat not sure however if it is mums. i can hear mums clear at her chest but would this still be heard in her rib area i not sure? I rang the vets today and the receptionist said i should know if she pregnant by now as she would be fat, i also wanted to find out if her birth canal was big enough but she said they could not tell off a scan. Iam all prepared with whelping kit, but am still unsure. any advice be appreciated |

| Usually by the time they are 6 weeks along it is becoming pretty evident unless they are carrying a single pup. If her vulva is still swollen, her teats are swollen and there are ridges along the mammaries, or there is a clear gelatinous discharge she is probably pregnant. As far as your male being too young, you'll just have to hope that the sperm was mature. The eggs are only viable for 2 days after they ripen so they could not have been fertilized 5 days apart so you don't have to worry about a premie.

| That is good news. At least now you know that they will be sneaky and you will have to be more careful with keeping them apart. |
