Weening Update

I wrote a week or two ago about a litter of pups my Mom has with a question on weening or was the Mama dog jealous or what? Mama dog is definately jealous & she don't want to ween.

Since I am getting Hannah out of the litter I asked my Mom if I could take her a few hours a day. What I wanted to do was start feeding her & try to ween her.

Hannah wouldn't eat & I was getting exasperated to no end. Meanwhile my Mom was stressing out over having 4 pups. My Mom is 70 & my stepDad is 77. They had no business breeding their very loved pooch in the first place & she did it anyway.

So I took a 2nd pup home too for a few hours so my Mom could get some rest. I went to the vet & got some Nutrical & also some canned dog food that really wants to make pups eat to mix in with their regular food. Hubby said just keep the 2 of them & ween them. The first night they were up every 2 hours. They didn't eat very well even with the special dogfood. I was so glad I had some Nutrical. Now this is the 3rd day & tonight Hannah was eating like a little piggy. And so is the other pup!

Now my Mom wants me to take the pup she is keeping after the extra pup here goes to his new home. She won't say it - but I know she wants her weened. Mama dog still don't want any pups eating food & she won't nurse them until their full, just every 2 hours & she walks away with pups hanging until she shakes them off.

I don't know what I would have done without everyone's advice & expertise here when I needed help.
