| Sometime the pups can get tangled in the hair and strangle. I allways trim and shave the belly area for nursing. |

| Depending on how much work you want to do, you can keep her long hair wrapped so it's out of the way and just shave her bum and belly for the pups. The wraps will have to be undone and redone pretty much daily to avoid matting, I am sure there is a past thread on show wrapping somewhere you can refer to if you want to give it a try. Good luck, Stacy |

| hair This is what I do with a long coat. I spay her down in a very light oil..take sections of hair from either side of the part. Gather the sides up into one pony tail on the back and band it with a rubber band. She will have a row of pony tails on her back. I oil the hips and braid the hair or pony tail it also..the rubber band is close tothe skin and leaves no gap for the puppy heads.. Only use a very light oil spray or dressing..too much will make her cold. Good Luck |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I made the mistake of cutting Gracie a skirt with this litter. It is taking forever for her hair to get back down long again. I am planning on doing what Pat has suggested with the pony tails. The only reason why I had cut it was because my friend had recommended it. Another friend of mine has left her bitches hair long and they didn't have a problem with it.

| dressing I have used whatever I had on hand at the time...I have used Coat Handlers rinse at full strength (water based) Bio Groom, Royal Coatilan...a light mink oil works..but jus.t a little spraying on the hair and not brushed into the body. You do have to brush it out well every second/third day..the hips get the worst of it. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Wow was this interesting ...Thanks for posting that question Joy - who would ever think that you would braid the moms BACK hair - but it makes sense. |

| I think this will work out wonderfully... Ellie is so use to me messing with her hair.. I have braided it before just for the heck of it while we were watching t.v.. She looked kind of silly.. I have seen on another site once this woman who always french braided the top knot.. Now that was really cute.. My husband was saying.. "Joy, your going to have to cut her hair.." I said... Im going to ask that question on YT.. They will give me good advice.. and you all certainly did!! Thank you so much I get to keep my babies hair long!! Your all soooooooooooooooo Great!! |

| Joy.. Thanks for asking that question Joy. Skittles is due the first wk of Aug and I was wondering the same thing. Her hair just barely touches the floor and my hubby loves it too much for me to cut more than a half inch off! Her hair is cottony and I'd really like to trim it short but we'll see. I have my moments when I want to cut it and other times I dont want to(like after I bathe and blow dry her! lol). DaniBelle & Skittles |
