| ![]() I just read the post about the poor puppy who had a heart attach while being neutered. I came close to calling the vet and calling off the surgery. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to Zach. He's my little boy. I'm so tempted to just let nature take it's course. I know thousands of dogs go through it and are fine. I had Zoe spayed and although I was nervous, I wasn't in a panic the way I am now. I really don't know what to do. |

| ![]() Are you getting prebloodwork done? If the vet that did that to the pup who had the heart attack he would have known there was a problem. I just had 3 cats spay and neutered though through the low cost clinic ant they dont do bloodwork and they were fine but its a chance you take if you dont do the bloodwork

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I was a mess when I knew Taycie's spay was starting to come up and I like many new moms was a nervous wreck! I would also recommend getting bloodwork. It really is such a piece of mind to know all is well when they go under anesthesia. Taycie did wonderful and recovered very quick. Bloodwork is so worth it if you are nervous at all! |

| ![]() I feel what you mean, we go to vets on saturday, to discuss Shay being neutered, they were trying to wait till he was 3 pounds...put we cannot seem to get there...now I am having second thoughts too..scares me to death.... Shay doesnt go outside, and Harley our other dog is a 120 pound female, whom has been spayed (of coarse Shay would need a fireman's ladder to come close to her..lol.) Need some advice on it, from our knowledgeable members...

No Longer a Member | ![]() You should still have it done, it prevents all those annoying behaviors associated with testiculs from happening (humping, marking, aggressiveness towards every male dog they meet, and some females) Plus the decreased chance of cancer is a big bonus. If you trust your vet you should still have it done, if not find a vet that you do trust to do it, and get the pre-surgery bloodwork done. Good luck all, Rizzo goes in on Tuesday for his, I'll be nervous the whole day, but then again I drop him off at 8 and pick him up at 330. It won't be too bad. |

| ![]() I love my new vet...actually found him on day of Harleys accident...had to call 911 cause mailman hit her and kept going and she was laying down on a bluff....I could get to her, by scaling down but at 120 pounds could not lift her out...police came, they called our human society and they called new town vet,,,, they were AMAZING, helping us...so he put her in his truck and took her right to his office...he is amazing he has come by house 2 times a week every week for last 5 weeks, and hasnt charged us a dime to stop by... when we got to vets office he had 2 lil yorkies running around (his)....they followed him everywhere, was so adorable....so I am going to take Shay there sat. and get his opinion....and see if he asks me about having blood work done first, that seems to be what you all say to make sure to have done....so thats what I will do... Good luck to you and Rizzo...will keep him in my prayers...let us know how he is doing....

| ![]() I was a nervous wreck too (for a spay). We waited until Lucy was 3.8 lbs. Be sure and read the Anesthesia Protocol sticky and perhaps, print it out, and take it with you to the vet. You can then see if they follow all the recommended precautions and the recommended anesthesia for these little ones. Another little peace of mind.
