| High Fructose and Corn Starch yogurt Quick question...not to add fuel to the fire hot debate about corn products lol, but I have read on here that many of you give yogurt to your babies. However, the brands I have seen have corn starch and/or high fructose corn syrup listed as an ingredient near the top. Are these ingredients okay to feed a baby that does not seem to have an allergy to corn? Is there a certain brand I should be looking for? Thanks to all you members who continue to post valuable info. You have helped me add so much to the life of my little girl. I am continually learning and have officially become addicted this site. Now were is the FORUM for addicts! lol Keep It UP! ____________________________ I MADDIE-CAKES! |

| I would go with no= they aren't great for people overall- so probably not great for our pups. In the US you guys have a GREAT brand called Stonyfield I think... something along those lines- it is ONLY natural ingredients- I get a yogurt right now that is only milk and active bacteria- that's it.... so that's what you are looking for. I don't know a lot about US grocery stores but i've been in a few that have an "organic" section and that is where i would go looking for yogurt. Also if you can go looking for fat free or low fat yogurt- it's out there fat free organic but you gotta look |

Dannon Plain yogurt is also very good and doesn't contain corn syrup or fructose. Are you looking at flavored yogurts? | |

| Hmmm....it does make you wonder... Kind of reminds me of that commerical on TV these days where someone is eating a popcycle and the other person says "Why are you eating that!? Don't you know that has high fructose corn syrup? Don't you know what that's made out of?!" And the person replies..."corn?" |

| If I do not have any homemade yogurt on hand, I use Dannon Natural Plain yogurt and it is corn syrup free. If anyone is interested in making their own yogurt at home (we are huge yogurt eaters), let me know and I will post it on this link. I make it from 2% milk.

| Definitely feed mine yogurt. Organic with active cultures are an excellent additive for their immune system, helps the whole yeast system in the body. Especially the digestive tract which is primarily bacterial; yeast. |

| Hahaha, the "hot debate about corn products." I do my best to avoid these corn and modified corn additives in my own diet, and I definitely don't want my dog eating them either. My DH makes fun of me sometimes, when I look at something we've bought at the grocery store, and complain, "I didn't think THIS would have modified corn crap in it!" Yogurt, cottage cheese, salad dressing, hamburger patties, bread, you name it. I think it's kinda creepy! Thanks for the tip on the Stonyfield yogurt, I'll have to look for that next time when I check out one of the other grocery stores in town. Last time I tried to buy yogurt for Nikko I was torn between a flavored Dannon and a plain other-brand with corn in it. I ended up getting the Dannon, because I like to eat that kind too! | Recipe I would love the homemade recipe. Mine go through it (Stoneyfield plain) like it's water (2 yorkies & a golden). I mix missing link in it every afternoon & they sit at the frig until I can get it for them. You can pm me. Thanks

| Here you go.... 1. Boil 3/4 gallon of 2% milk on stove. A film will form on top, do not remove it. 2. Once boiled, remove from heat and let cool to LUKEWARM. Not cold, not hot, not too warm. Be sure to monitor this, stick your finger in every now and then. 3. Once lukewarm, add 2-3 tablespoons prexisting fresh pre-made yogurt. (Make sure this is fresh too, can be homemade or store bought) Stir properly. 4. Pour into glass yogurt cups. Cover with plastic lids. 5. Gather all cups together next to each other on counter. Wrap all cups in a large towel. DO NOT DISTURB for 6-8 hours until firm. 6. Once firm, move to refridgerator. 7. Chill and enjoy!! This homemade yogurt will be lighter, airy, and less dense than store bought yogurt. Skim milk will not work. Whole Vitamin D makes the best yogurt. We use 2% for a good medium. ENJOY!!! Smiles....

| Does it have to go in glass containers? You buy it in the store in those plastic ones.

| I use glass, it works the best. My grandma tried some plastic containers and the only one that worked was frosting tubs. I use 1 to 1&1/2 glass cups with plastic lids. Comes out perfect everytime. Just make sure everything is super FRESH!! Also, the yogurt will stay fresh longer in the glass.
