After giraffe uproar, Copenhagen zoo kills 4 lions - The Washington Post

I wonder if it is some sick, twisted PR stunt.
I don't know who could shut this <,}%>?,~ show down.

I saw a comment on the other thread about the National Zoo and the conditions there. Apparently outsiders had to be brought in to tell them what they were doung wrong, including Dr. Remillard.

Disguisting.....but as much as it upsets us and as dismaying and illogical it seems to us, these lunatics do what they do, as the please....nothing that was caused by all the protests when they killed the giraffe, did one bit of good. We have no control over other countries, and they could care less about what the world thinks. They will continue to do as they please and are accountable to no other country.

No one can tell me that there isn't more than 1 sanctuary that wouldn't have been willing to take on these animals! WHY KILL????

I can't even begin to express how I feel about this..not even going to read it as anytime I see a giraffe I can only think of marius. heartbreaking to do such things and in front of kids. just wrong.

I was avoiding this thread because I assumed it was about the second giraffe. The subject came up yesterday with my dad and he informed me about the lions. My first thought was like yours, that the Copenhagen zoo was sickly relishing the controversy.

I did not know Dr. R was part of the team who exposed all of the bad conditions at the National Zoo. That place is a disaster still and should be shut down. I'll never forget the documentary about one of the baby pandas and the one caretaker gleefully stating that the humans were better equipped than the momma panda to take care of the baby. How backwards is that?!
