Mimi. When searching stay away from a woman named Joy. She advertises in the Asbury Park Press occassionally and is located in Howell Twp. Ford Road. She is nothing more then a small puppymill. I have one male who is ten years old that came from her and one female who is almost three years old that came from her. My male has hip problems, is neurotic and has a collapsed trachea. He's had a lot of medical problems. My female is 16 lbs. was sold as a full bred Yorkie with papers and is a Yorkie Poo. She's very timid and it's believed through our vet that she was mishandled to say the least. Both dogs were filthy, smelly messes when sold and both had coccidia and other parasites. She's bad news. On a good note, often if you search the classified you find a nice Yorkie that a family for whatever reason just can't keep. For size purposes you may want to consider adopting a Yorkie around a year old as then you'll know for sure about how big he will be. Although seven pounds is about right, it's still hard to judge size when they are pups. You can also try
www.petfinder.com and type in Yorkie. There are a lot of rescues looking for good homes and the best part is that they come vetted, and spayed/neutered already. Usually the fee to adopt is around $400 tops and that includes all their shots, vetting and the spay/neuter. It's a win win situation. You save money and you also give a York a good home he or she needs
Best of luck to you. Elaine
