I know, it is a hard one to try to fathom. Some even when they know it is a puppymill dog or puppy just want to rescue it. It is so sad what people will do take fill their pockets off the backs of little dogs.
The problem with Designer dog craze is not that they are mixes per se, mixed breeds have been around over the decades but they were not given clever composoted names and sold for big bucks leading to buyers going along with it and perpetuating a myth and more mixed breeds being bred for the almighty dollar. Seriously there are so many mixes in shelters and rescues needing homes, if a mix is all someone wants, rescue one.
Interestingly enough, I have now started to see the occasional ad for mixed breeds in newspapers for reasonable prices ie $200 that are called what they are -- mutt for sale. Now that's honest!!
