You are definitely not alone. I used to catch Roxy sitting in the cat box, face covered in litter with that "What? I didn't do it?" look. So I put the box up out of her reach. Now, she figured out where the cats go when they're outside, so she digs it up there and brings it inside and hides it for later. If I am outside with her, she will lure me to the other side of the yard by pushing her ball and kicking her feet which means play soccer, then she hauls butt to the cat area and starts digging like maddog and grabs a chunk and runs between the fence and tree where I can't get her. She even follows the cats around with her nose in their butts - I guess she likes fresh as well as stale. Sorry, it is so funny to watch. Looks like an animal train and the cat doesn't seem to mind.
I do hope she outgrows it.
