Definately sounds like a broker. I'd stay far away. Unfortunately the good breeders don't advertise in the paper. Stop by a local dog show (agility, conformation, anything) and ask people where they got their dogs from. Do you want a puppy? A lot of times you can get a retired female, just make sure she wasn't in a kennel her whole life. Trainers also tend to know good breeders and don't forget to check the shelters. It's hit or miss but sometimes a family will turn over their pregnant dog and then the shelter will have pups.
