At bedtime she does stay in her crate and is quiet from 9:00 to 7:00 as long as I am right beside her. Thanks for the advice. I will continue working with her and hope for the best. |
Yes, I love the way they want to be with us all day, I am very attached to my furbabies as they are attached to me. However, when I am in a different room cleaning or whatever it may be, I don't want to hear them barking and howling. I learned to not give in to them. Once you give in to them, they expect you to all the time. As long as the pup does not have to go to the bathroom and is let out alot during the day, and the pup is in no real danger or distress, I just ignore them. It took me a week once to break a puppy from whining and barking in her crate. She got alot of time out of the crate and learned that she gets more attention when she is quiet rather than barking up a storm. After that week, I never had any problems with her barking or whining in her crate. You just have to stick with it. In the long run, it is much better for you and the pup. I do however, only crate them when they are puppies, except at night they are always crated, they are too small to be on the bed with me
. Once they are adults, they have the full run of the house and I don't have to worry about them getting into trouble when I am not in the same room.
