Default Ever wondered what the fuss about growth plates are?

https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...25489164303299

Here you get to see a puppys growth plate and an adult dogs. Part of the normal maturation of a dog is are hormonal signals to the bones to stop growing. This signal is key in that then the angles at which the long bones meet are anatomically correct. Each breed of dog and with in the breed can have slightly different timeframes of closure. Early neutering or spaying interferes with the timely hormonal release and may set up the stage for oseto conditions. While not a huge concern with toy breeds - it becomes more important as the size of the breed increases.
