Having a harness small enough to safely hold such a young pup might not be possible. To be honest, I had a collar and leash when I drove Max home as a tiny pup. He didn't want to move an inch when I put him on the ground, so there was no concern of him tugging on the leash.

When I got out of the car at a rest stop, a very thoughtful woman came running over and advised me not to put my puppy on the ground just anywhere.
