I wanted to find a good dry food that Chloe will like because I remember you told me before that you do keep dry food on hand even with home cooking. She really likes this one and the pieces are tiny. I bought a little can of wet food from them as well to see if she'll like it.
I haven't gotten to ordering her the BalanceIT because for some reason I'm scared to do something wrong accidentally by not giving her all necessary nutrients. I decided for now while I learn about the proper way to home cook balanced meals for a dog that she can eat Halo since she likes it. I do still make boiled chicken for her or some sweet potato but I take away a portion of the dry food so that I can add that to her food without overfeeding or unbalancing the diet. |
Well, I used it in the past, probably back in about 2005 or so. I don't think it would be my choice today for various reasons. But, at least they have a medical advisor that is a board certified internal medicine specialist with some training in nutrition which is a lot more than other companies can say. I still would prefer a company that has a board certified by the ACVN vet nutritionist making the food.
The BalanceIt company is owned by a board certified veterinary nutritionist. The product and formulation of the diets are complete and balanced so if you do order the product and go with a diet from them or from pet diets, you have nothing to worry about. I think you would be much better off doing a balanced home cooked meal with balance it added than you are just adding a little home cooked boiled chicken or sweet potato to her commercial food. Dr Remillard at pet diets has a diet of chicken and sweet potato for $25 that you can order (with or without a veggie mix) and it is balanced. I actually have that diet but Winston seems to do better on peas. I really like the pea diets (w/ either chicken or beef). The balance it container lasts me several months so it's pretty cost effective.
