Clippers are the way to go & yes you can do it yourself. Trim it in a "V" shape, 1/3 of the way down. This will take the weight off his ears. SarahBear was right too, he's probably teething as well. I use an unconventional method to get the ears up. I buy a package of "Dr. Scholl's Moleskin and cut a piece the size of the pup's ear. Spray carburetor cleaner (YES carburetor cleaner and NO it won't hurt the dog, it only makes the moleskin very sticky and adheres to the ear, much less trouble than taping and this has worked for me for over 30 years) Place than on your puppies's ears (the inside of the ear leather) and within a week or so, his ears will be erect.
