here is what I did for potty training...
I spread out about 6 potty pads on the floor, in the area that I wanted to keep her potty pad. Everytime she would potty on the pads I would praise her like crazy and make a HUGE fuss over it. I also gave her a treat every time she went, which ended up being a bad idea cuz she's almost 2 and still wants a treat every time she goes. Anyway, gradualy take away a potty pad untill you are left with one pad. When Gracie did not go on the pad, I used a stern voice and I told her "No". It really helps to catch them in the act. I would always pick her up and bring her to the paper to finish her buisness, even if she was already finished. When she did go on the pad I would always say "Good girl, you pottyed on the paper" when she was bad, I added to the NO "we only potty on the paper". Now if I say "potty on the paper", she knows and goes straight to the paper!
Another thing I did was to soak up her pee off the floor with one of the pads and I put that pad in the center of all of the potty pads on the floor. That way she would smell the pee/poop and associate it with pottying.
I hope if you decide to try this it works for you too! |
