Lily's Tummyache, No Poop. Need Advice Hello,
I know this is an old thread but I did a search and this is what popped up. Lily was in urgent care monday (Labor Day) after vomiting/regurgitating for 6+ hours, hourly. The vet said she could have eaten something, perhaps have an infection or bug or that she could have a blockage. They gave her anti-nausea (Famotidine) and anti-vomiting (Cerenia) and a pain med at the vet along with instructions to continue the Famotidine and Cerenia.
Her spirits are terrific, she's out chasing crows and wanting attention. She does have an appetite and has been eating (per the vet) a bland diet of boiled chicken and a little boiled potato. She's 10lbs and yesterday I gave her 3 TBS morning and night of this mixture. I was really hoping she would poop this morning but she hasn't. She has pooped twice in the past 36 hours or so, both very loose/unformed and not very much. I elected not to do X-Rays but to watch her to see how she was doing and see if everything passed through okay after the vomiting stopped (since we didn't know what happened). Her spirits were good at the vet and she agreed with me.
Here's my question to you: How long should I wait before heading back to the vet for X-Rays? Her abdomen seems normal, there are a few "firm" spots but I am pretty sure I have felt those before but expected they were stool - I don't know, I'm just guessing! She has an appetite (she's asking for food right now) I wasn't going to give her anything until something came out but I am going to give her the same as yesterday.
Another question, how long should I wait to start introducing her regular diet back in (slowly of course). Perhaps that would help her have a normal stool. I don't want to force anything on her of course but I can tell she's hungry. I'm just waiting for that poop!!!
Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Thank you YT family! |
