I have never fed any dog of mine "scraps".
When I home-cook for Harry, it's a perfectly balanced diet with the correct supplements. Harry's diet is far more balanced than mine will ever be.
Kibble is always down, just in case he gets hungry inbetween these perfectly balanced, beautifully cooked meals - as I have been doing for 40+ years.
