So, I took Lucy to the vet yesterday for her checkup. She has been on heart worm preventatives since she was old enough. The vet did a heart worm test and the first one came back negative. But in the second test where they examine the blood they found one microfilaria..the vet told me it could be a baby heart worm..or some other kind of parasite just passing through.
So they sent her blood off to the heart worm preventative company and will call as soon as they get results. She told me it was probably nothing to worry about. But- In the meantime..I am absoluetely terrified! I've done everything I can to keep her safe from heart worms and I'm trying so hard not to be upset. Lucy is tiny..about 4 1/2 pounds and only 1 yr and 3 mos old! Has anyone experienced anything like this?!
