Well, good news! We are back home after being gone for 3 days. Brutus spent 2 nights at the vet's getting re hydrated and testing done.
Turns out he didn't have HGE, but the condition was as serious and the vet told us he could've died if not treated promptly. They did testing for worms etc....and it turns out he had some sort of bacterial infection in his intestine.
We are having to give him:
Sulfadimet: once daily
Metronidaz: twice daily
So Brutus should be good to go and his spirits are high, which is normal
