Again, it is up to the individuals involved. Ideally the longer you can wait the better. In some cases if someone wants a female and there is only one to choose from then they don't have to wait that long.

I would think that temperament and personality is important in choosing a working dog so I would imagine they would need to be at least 10 week to tell much about their personalities.
