But I've noticed for about 4 days now that he seems to be lazy, like tired or uninterested in everything. It's hard to describe. He's eating well, poop is normal, hasn't thrown up or anything or symptom I can see. He's not lethargic like he won't move at all but he has changed. He no longer runs around like crazy and he seems to be sleeping a little more. The word I would use is probably calm. He just seems too calm. Especially when I compare to how he was 2 weeks ago. He would run like crazy if he was allowed all around the house, he would jump up and down when someone got home. He also is no longer very interested in being carried. I was trying to research information on stages of development and I read something that they go through a fear stage at 4 months. Could anyone tell me exactly what should be expected in this stage? I thought about taking him to the vet but I know they will likely not be able to tell me anything just from looking at him and would probably just have a bunch of tests done on him. I am tight on money so I only want to take him if it's necessary and not if this is normal behavior. I've never had a puppy before so I honestly have no idea what to expect. I figure maybe he's growing up and become more independent but I really don't know. I know there's a lot of people with a lot of experience on this site so I wanted to hear input as to what could be the reason for this change in my puppy. Thank you so much for your help! Debbie |
First fear stage is not usually evidenced through their main giver, but rather being reluctant to go outside, or more startled with loud noises or sounds, or backing away from strangers when they used to run up to strangers.
Have you checked his gums and ears? For gums paleness, or sores, for ears, bad smell, any discharge. Has he recently had any vaccinations? Have you used any new products on your floors?
What did your vet said earlier on when you took him in because he was being sick a lot?
