the kennel cough and pneumonia should not make him any more prone to future illnesses. If the vet gives him a clean bill of health I would keep him. But being so small there are a lot of other concerns you need to be aware of.

he can be easily injured by jumping off of furniture or out of a childs arms. Make sure children sit on the floor when playing with him and do not allow them to put him on the furniture.

Wath him carefully to make sure he is eating, they can get hypoglycemia very quickly when they are that small.

Keep him in a safe area where he will not accidently get stepped on.
