Really check the puppy over, he should be square, as long as he is high. Look at the ear set (hard to do on puppies as they can rearrange them! Really!) Check the length of his legs, don't want the short stubby ones (unless you don't plan to breed or show and that is the look you like) and you don't want too long of ones either. Remember the squareness. Look at his bite. There are some pictures online if you need to see where the bite should hit when the mouth closes. Make sure he does not have too much wetness around the eyes. Some puppies have a condition where the hair around the eyes grows the wrong way and it makes them tear more than usual. Check how clean they are keeping him. Then the all important -- personality! Make sure he is compatible with what you are looking for in a puppy. I am just hitting some highlights and hope others add to the list. So much to consider when picking a puppy! And then sometimes they just pick you! | |
