My baby was leaving spots on the tile, I assumed she may be coming into heat (early as she is only 5 months old). I put puppy panties on her and then starting researching the average age of first heat. My older yorkie was spayed before her first heat so I did not experience this event with her. After my research, I grew concerned as I could not find anyone with a yorkie that young experiencing the first heat. I took her to the vet and he said it is a UTI, put her on antibiotics but started talking about yorkies and liver shunts as a possible cause of the UTI. Has anyone experienced a urinary tract infection without it being connected to such a horrible condition? I purchased her from a reputable breeder and did not hear of any conditions like this in her line.
