I've never crated a dog, but they do have their own bed. We tried sleeping with Zada and Azrael before we got Razael but Azrael snores LOUDLY, and then when we got Razael, Zada was so traumatized she got diarrhea and you can imagine what she did in our bed. That was it for us.

I think it's best they have their own bed anyway.
