i use sentinel year round-it is heartworm preventative but is also supposed to prevent flea larvae. It doesn't kill/stop adult fleas from biting though, so in flea season, I use frontline too. They are only outside for walks but I am just really paranoid. My vet recommended this. I can get a 6 month supply of both for around $100.00
