I think what Yorkiepuppie might have been referring to is that the time between 8 - 12 weeks is when so much of their emotional and interaction development takes place. Although they are physically able to be on their own at 8 weeks, they learn so much from their mom and litter mates in the 8-12 week period that it is very beneficial to the puppies. And it makes it a lot easier on us humans to have that additional teaching done by their 'pack'.

I have gotten puppies at 8-9 weeks of age and at 12 weeks and I do see a difference in their attitudes. For myself, I would not want them to miss that last 4 weeks with their mom/litter mates. Only you know what will work best for you, everyone is different...that's what makes this world so very wonderful.

Congrats!! Have you decided on a name yet? Please post pictures as soon as you can. We just love pictures here at YT!
