I know my babies would protect me because they have. One time I was going to be home all alone over the night and hubby was about ready to leave for work. We heard a noise and decided to check it out. Well, no sooner did we get the door to our room open, Chip was already down the stairs. He went all over the main floor and checked every nook and cranny out, then proceeded to the basement. He did the same thing there, then ran right back to the top floor, checked everything there, then went back in the room and sat in the doorway as if to say "Okay it's safe!"

Smokey also has started growling really low, mean growls in the middle of the night if he hears something unusual.
