Default trying to potty train

Hi, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Beverly and I am new to Yorkie Talk. I have 4 new yorkie babies. Ive been trying to house train them along with one baby Maltese. I wanted to explain how I'm doing it and see if there's anyone out there who can give me any advice. I have them in a room in a 6x6 gate. The surface is a sheet of linoleum with a sheet of indoor/outdoor carpet over that.I have an extra piece of the indoor/outdoor carpet so I can clean it and change it out every day. I have their bed and food and water at one end. They have been doing their business on the other side opposite of their bed and food for the most part. Sometimes it gets close to the sleeping area, but mostly on the other side. My plan is to very gradually pull back the indoor/outdoor carpet surface. To begin with, only exposing their bed and food and water on the linoleum. In hopes that they will not go on the linoleum where their bed and food are. Over time I plan to pull back the indoor/outdoor carpet a little at a time until one day there is only a 2 foot section of the indoor/outdoor carpet at one end. Hoping that they will go to that to do their business. My question is, is this a good plan? should it work? I've never house trained any dog before and I really want them trained. I'm thinking I may be taking on a lot by trying to train 5 of them at once. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

***Beverly***
