I'm glad you made your visit for Thursday... so if you have any questions the following day, your Vets Office will be open.
I just had Lola spayed and she kept licking her incision when I was not looking. She licked all the glue off and I had to bring her back in to have it fixed. So instead of a big cone on her little head. I put her in a Onesie (Preemie size) that I bought in the baby store. Now she couldn't get to her incision and it stayed clean. I have a photo of her on my page of her in a Onesie. They used glue to close the very small incision when they fixed my male cat also, so I'm sure they will do the same for your boy.
Make sure that you have the option to bring home pain meds (if needed). Although, the males surgery is not as involved as the females. I'm sure it still hurts.
Make sure that you make them aware, that Yorkie's are very sensitive to anesthesia so that they will pay close attention to him during the surgery. My Lola was give pain meds for home use and the dose was to high for her little body (4 pounds). So I lowered it myself until she was out of pain and not completely stoned out of her mind. Then I called my Vets Office and made them write it in her chart, for future references.
The way I knew she was on to much pain meds was, when I gave her the pain meds she just kept getting up and trying to lay down... over and over and over. She kept looking at everything like it was making her dizzy. You will be able to notice if this happens. She look very high! Like the room is spinning.
The day you bring your baby home, it needs to be very quite in your home for him. Think of it as if... you were coming home from the hospital. All you wanted to do was sleep with no interruptions. Most likely he wont want to eat but make sure you give him the option to and give him plenty of water.
You might want to pick up a product called
"Nutri-Cal Puppy". It is an excellent product if you have not heard of it. It will keep his nutrition and blood sugar levels up. I always keep a supply of this in the house, because Lola is a picky eater. You can find it at your local pet store. I paid liker $5.00 - $6.00 at PetCo.Oh, ya.... They LOVE it. Here is their web page:
TomlynNutri-Cal
You should also think about Micro-Chipping him and having them check his teeth, in case some need to be removed. This way you won't need put him under anesthesia again.
Best of luck!
