If you feel the area up from the paw...about where you'd think the "wrist" would be...you may find a small lump with a nail attached. Usually these are removed when the puppy's tail is docked. It's a preventative measure as these claws can be caught on things and rip. If your puppy does have his dewclaws make sure to trim it along with his other nails....as it will curl and grow into his skin.
