You asked if it's better. I would say that in some ways, yes it is but a premade raw might be best for your individual circumstances. I like the prey model raw for the teeth cleaning aspect. With prey model you also feed raw bones, your dog will have wonderful teeth and the premade has only ground bones which do not do a good job of cleaning the teeth although I think it's still better than kibble for their teeth. The prey model is also a more econimical alternative for me as I have a larger dog as well and the premade would get pretty pricey for her. She weighs 10 times my yorkie's weight! The premade is easier on you but I do have to say that the prey model is not as much work as I thought it would be. The hardest part is doing the shopping and just remembering to take out the food to thaw it and you have to do that weather you feed NV or prey model.
