That would not concern me too much either.
My neuterd male is very protective of our pups and does not like strangers here to see them, so if he can scare you and intimidate you by nipping at your heels and get you out of the house then he feels he has done his job!
Maybe they do not have alot of visitiors either then they can be very protective of their house and family(not much socialization with other people)
