Comformation isn't the only thing to be registered for. Yorkies can compete in other AKC events and it doesn't matter if they're spay/neutered. They can get a different kind of registration (I've forgotten at the moment what you call it, duh!) to compete, but they have to send in a whole bunch of papers and pictures, etc that they wouldn't have to do if their puppies were already AKC registered.
